Chapter Q & A

AuthorG.L.Fuentes

Q1: What did Lencho hope for?

Answer: Lencho hoped for rains as the only thing that his field of ripe corn needed was a shower.

Q2: Why did Lencho say the raindrops were like ‘new coins’?

Answer: Lencho’s crops were ready for harvest. As raindrops might have helped in getting a better harvest, resulting in greater prosperity, so Lencho compared them with new coins.

Q3: How did the rain change? What happened to Lencho’s fields?

Answer: While the rain was pouring down, a robust wind began to blow and really huge hailstones started to fall along with the rain. All the crop in Lencho’s fields got destroyed.

CBSE Class 6 - 8 - English Grammar - Kinds of Verbs (Transitive and Intransitive)(#cbsenotes)(#eduvictors)

There are two kinds of a verb:
1. Transitive Verb
2. Intransitive Verb

1. Transitive Verb
A verb requires an object after it completes its sense is called a transitive verb. Transitive verb needs object otherwise the sentence does not make any sense.

e.g. The man killed a tiger.

Here the verb 'kill' is transitive. Its object is 'tiger'. Without an object, the sentence seems incomplete.

FROG AND THE NIGHTINGALE

CBSE CLASS 10 - ENGLISH (C) - FROG AND THE NIGHTINGALE - POEM SUMMARY (#cbsenotes)(#eduvictors)

POEM SUMMARY

Poet: Vikram Seth (written in 1994)

ABOUT THE POEM

Here is a very witty and highly satiric poem based on a very simple parable. The meaning of the poem is very simple seen through symbols. A simple-hearted, sweet-tongued, low abiding and innocuous bird in the nightingale is deceptively ‘murdered’ by a crafty, clever, wily, manipulating and ugly-looking frog simply because she has dared to threaten its supremacy in Bingle Bog. The poem reeks with political connotation and brings forth how those in the upper hierarchy of power murder those who dare oppose them. Strangle the ploys used against them are so foolproof that they get absolved of any trace of responsibility. The vocabulary in the poem is highly suggestive and musical.
