English is full of words. There are words that sound similar pronunciations but have different meanings or grammatical functions. Here is a list of common confusables:
Accede, Exceed
Accede means to agree or to allow
Exceed means to go beyond, to surpass
Accept, Except
Accept means to give approval or to receive willingly.
Except means to exclude or leave out.
Adverse, Averse
Adverse means unfavourable, hostile or harmful.
Averse means disinclined, repelled, opposed.
Advice, Advise
Advice (Noun) means recommendation about what to do.
Advise (verb) means to recommend something.
Affect, Effect
Affect (verb) means to change or make a difference to, to realise.
Effect (noun) means a result or consequence.
Aisle, Isle
Aisle means a passage between the row of seats
Isle means island.
All together, Altogether
All together means all in one place, all at once.
Altogether means completely, on the whole
