Answer: Historians explore and try to understand what happened in past through various methods. These include:
- Excavate archaeological sites and study of fossil remains, bones, tools, coins, monuments, inscriptions of the past (Archaeological Sources).
- Study various written records, religious texts, manuscripts, accounts of foreign travellers, biographies of kings, epics, poems etc. (Literary Sources).

- Coins made of clay
- Tools, implements, weapons made up of stone.
Q5. Why do you think ordinary men and women did not generally keep records of what they did?
Answer: Ordinary men and women did not keep records of what they did because:
- Ordinary people were hunters, fishing folk, gatherers, farmers or herders.
- They were not educated. E.g. Most of the literary sources found were in Sanskrit which was not spoken by common people.

ReplyDeleteYou have the wrong answer in the first question itself - Indus and its tributaries had the first cities around 4700 years ago, Ganga Valley had cities about 2500 years ago.
