CBSE Class 10 Biology - Control and Coordination - Assertion Reasoning Questions

CBSE Class 10 Biology - Control and Coordination - Assertion Reasoning Questions (#class10Biology)(#eduvictors)(#cbse2021)

In each of the following questions, a statement of Assertion is given by the corresponding statement of Reason. Of the statements, mark the correct answer as.

(a) If assertion is true and reason is correct explanation of assertion.

(b) If assertion is true but reason is false.

(c) If assertion is false but reason is true.

(d) If both are false.

Q1:

Assertion: We detect the smell of agarbati (incense stick)

Reason: Smell is detected by phono receptors of nose, which further relay impulses to the brain.

Q2:

Assertion: Brain plays a secondary role in reflex action, when our hand touches a hot plate.

Reason: In reflex action, the stimulus received by the spinal cord that sends the response. The action is registered in cerebral brain just for memory.

Q3

Assertion: Neurons relay messages across the junction as electrical impulses.

Reason: The junction or gap between is called synapse. At terminal ending electrical signal releases neuro transmitters as chemicals.

Q4

Assertion: A neurons transmits message in both directions.

Reason: The response is slow and produced by all cells of target tissues.

Q5

Assertion: In 'Touch me Not' plant, drooping of leaves occur on touching it.

Reason: Plant cells change their shape by changing the amount of water (turgor changes) in them.

Q6:

Assertion: Positive phototropism means movement towards light.

Reason: When sunlight falls on one side of plant, the auxin diffuses towards the sunny side of shoot. Auxin concentration stimulates cells to grow longer and stem appears bending towards sunlight.

Q7:

Assertion: Absisic acid is responsible for flowering.

Reason: It is a growth inhibitor.

Answers:

1: (b) If assertion is true but reason is false.

Smell is detected by olfactory receptors of nose.

2: (a) If assertion is true and reason is correct explanation of assertion.

3:  (c) If assertion is false but reason is true.

Neurons relay messages across the junction as chemical signals. Inside neuron, messages travel as electrical impulses.

4: (d) If both are false.

A neurons transmits message in one direction only. The response is rapid and produced by those cells connected to nervous system.

5: (a) If assertion is true and reason is correct explanation of assertion.

6: (b) If assertion is true but reason is false.

When sunlight falls on one side of plant, the auxin diffuses towards the shady side of shoot.

7: (c) If assertion is false but reason is true.

Absisic acid is responsible for wilting of leaves.
