CBSE Class 10 - Science - CH6 Life Processes (Photosynthesis)

Photosynthesis
Photosynthesis Process

Q & A

Q1: What is photosynthesis?

Answer: The process by which green plants make their own food from carbon dioxide and water in the presence of sunlight and chlorophyll is called photosynthesis.

During this process, oxygen gas is released. This process can be represented as:

    6CO2   + 12H2O        C6H12O6   +    6H2O +    6O2

The green plants convert the energy of sunlight into chemical energy by making glucose.
The extra glucose formed changes into starch which is stored in leaves.
The Oxygen released comes from the water.

Q2: Define Translocation.

Answer: Transportation of food from photosynthetic parts of the plant to the non-green part of the plant through phloem is known as translocation.

Q3: What are the important events occur during photosynthesis process?

Answer: The following events occur during this process:

  1. Absorption of light energy by chlorophyll.
  2. Conversion of light energy to chemical energy and splitting of water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen. (Light Reaction)
  3. Reduction of carbon dioxide to carbohydrates. (Dark Reaction by Calvin Cycle)

Q4: Mention the conditions for photosynthesis. Also, mention the process involved in each of these steps.

The Frog and the Nightingale

(Q & A)

CBSE Class 10 - English (C) - The Frog and the Nightingale (Q and A)(#eduvictors)

Q1: How did the creatures of the Bingle bog react to the nightingale's singing?

Answer: The creatures of the Bingle Bog who were quite fed up of the unpleasant and harsh voice of the frog cheered, when they heard the melodious and beautiful voice of the nightingale. They were full of admiration and listened to her enchanting song with great interest. When her song ended, all the creatures clapped for her and asked her to sing some more. Ducks and herons waded towards her. All the creatures were filled with fascination and delight.

Q2: Which were the different ways in which the frog asserts his importance?

Answer: The frog introduced himself to the nightingale as the owner of the sumac tree. He proudly declared himself to be very famous singer of the Bog, who had a splendid baritone as well as a music critic who used to write for bog Trumpet magazine. He found faults with the nightingale's song in order to assert his superiority over her. He even offered to train her so as to improve her singing. The gullible nightingale was completely obstructed by the frog's sweet sugar coated words.

Q3: Why is the frog's joy both sweet and bitter?

Answer: The frog's joy is both sweet and bitter. His joy is sweet because he is able to earn a lot of money from the musical concerts at the cost of the nightingale. His joy is bitter because he is
highly jealous of the nightingale who is becoming famous day by day. The frog can never get respect and admiration from the creatures of bog as everyone hated his hoarse voice.

How I Taught My Grandmother To Read
Q & A

Author: Sudha Murty

Q1: Write character-sketch of grandmother.

Answer: Sixty-two years old grandmother named Krishtakka lived in the erst era where girls education was not considered important. She never went to school and remained unlettered. She was married at a very tender age and had children. Later she became grandmother and had so much pleasure in cooking and feeding. Sometimes she regretted for not going to school. So, she made sure that her children and grand-children studied well. She was a dedicated home-maker and devoted all her youth to her family. She associated herself with the protagonist of the story 'Kashi Yatre' and believed that
actual practice of religion is to practice humaneness. She was very attached to her granddaughter, who read stories to her. She was perturbed when her granddaughter went to a wedding at a neighbouring village. She could not read out the weekly episode which made her determined to learn how to read herself.

She wanted to emerge from the quagmire of ignorance. Through her hard-work, sincerity, dedication and ardent desire she was able to read on her own. She thought that there is no age bar for learning. She also teaches us that real practice of religion is practicing humaneness.
