meaning: To raise or lift something, to improve something (ऊपर उठाना, बौद्धिक व नैतिक स्तर पर उठाना)


Examples:
1. This diet will elevate your blood sugar level.
2. He is elevated to Joint Secretary level.




To defy

Defying Kerala govt order, Bhagwat hoists flag at school.


meaning: openly refuse to obey a person or law (अवज्ञा करना)

Examples:
1. She defied her parents and left her parents house.
2. The leader asks people to defy the ban and join the protest.


To distract

Pilot says distracted by laser beam before landing at IGI airport.

meaning: To divert attention (विचलित करना)

Examples:
1. The teacher punished them for distracting the class with their wits.
2. Please don't tap on desk, it distracts me from my work.


To immerse

meaning: To dip or submerge something in a liquid, involve deeply in something. (डुबो देना,  तल्लीन करना)
