CBSE Class 9 and 10: Social Science Curriculum 2019-20 cuts three chapters (#cbsesyllabus)(#eduvictors)

In a bid to curtail the big syllabus and reduce burden on class 9 and 10 standard students, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and Central Board Secondary Education (CBSE) have deleted three chapters from Social Science books.

Chapters deleted from Class 9 NCERT textbook, India and the Contemporary World - I are:

1. Peasants and Farmers from Section II: Livelihoods, Economics and Societies
2. History and Sport: The Story of Cricket from Section III: Everyday Life, Culture and Politics
3. Clothing: A Social History from Section III: Everyday Life, Culture and Politics


Chapters deleted from Class 10 Syllabus for 2019-20 board examinations are:

1. Forest and Wildlife: Will not be asked in final board examination. It will be assessed in the Periodic Tests only



2. Water Resources: Will not be asked in final board examination. It will be assessed in the Periodic Tests only

3. Democracy and Diversity: Will be assessed in the Periodic Tests only and will not be evaluated in
Board Examination.

4. Popular Struggles and Movements: Will be assessed in the Periodic Tests only and will not be evaluated in Board Examination.

5. Challenges to Democracy: Will be assessed in the Periodic Tests only and will not be evaluated in Board Examination.

6. Consumer Rights: Will done as Project Work

7. The Nationalist Movement in Indo-China: Deleted

8. Novels, Society and History: Deleted

9. Work, Life and Leisure: Deleted

Compulsorily Project work introduced that every student has to undertake based on the following topics:
Consumer Awareness  OR  Social Issues OR Sustainable Development
