Class 9 - ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (CURRICULUM - 2019-20)

Aiming to make faculty students nicely-versed in technologies shaping the destiny, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to introduce Artificial intelligence as an elective subject.

“The decision to introduce artificial intelligence as a skill challenge became taken at a latest assembly of the board’s governing body. It has been decided that the challenge could be introduced in classes eight, nine and 10 as a skill problem,” a member of the board’s governing body said.

Artificial intelligence is the ability of a device to think, learn and carry out obligations usually requiring human intelligence, together with visible belief, speech recognition and decision-making capabilities. Capabilities tested by way of machines, such as computer systems, from gambling chess to running automobiles and beyond, fall inside the area of artificial intelligence.

1. The March of Democracy has met with setbacks and successes at some point of history.

2. In 1900 there have been only few democratic states. After the Second World War, in 1950, more

The annual board examination will be of 80 marks, with a duration of three hours. There will be internal assessment for 20 Marks.

Look at the following sentences:

The italicised part gives non-essential information about a person or thing are called relative clauses. The words 'Who', 'which' and 'that' as subjects of a relative clause are relative pronouns.

Broadly there are two types of relative clauses:

1. Defining or identifying clause.

If we remove relative clause, meaning of the sentence changes significantly.

e.g. The woman who visited me in the hospital was very kind. 

 The woman was very kind. (removing relative clause changes context significantly.)

In a bid to curtail the big syllabus and reduce burden on class 9 and 10 standard students, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and Central Board Secondary Education (CBSE) have deleted three chapters from Social Science books.

Chapters deleted from Class 9 NCERT textbook, India and the Contemporary World - I are:

1. Peasants and Farmers from Section II: Livelihoods, Economics and Societies
2. History and Sport: The Story of Cricket from Section III: Everyday Life, Culture and Politics
3. Clothing: A Social History from Section III: Everyday Life, Culture and Politics


Chapters deleted from Class 10 Syllabus for 2019-20 board examinations are:

1. Forest and Wildlife: Will not be asked in final board examination. It will be assessed in the Periodic Tests only
