घातु - क्रिया का मूल रूप धातु कहलाता है। जैसे-लिख, पढ़, जा, खा, गा, रो, पा आदि। इन्हीं घातुओं से लिखता, पढ़ता, आदि क्रियाएँ बनाई जाती है |

कर्म के आधार पर क्रिया के दो प्रकार के भेद होते हैं -
