Theme / Central Idea of the poem

The greatest wealth that a child wants to possess is his/her freedom. The things that he doesn’t like is constant nagging, unwanted instructions and even over-protection from parents. Like every child Amanda also romanticizes to enjoy her world of dreams, doesn’t want anyone to interfere in her life or curtail her freedom. She doesn’t want to grow up rather enjoy her childhood for a little longer.

Coates Kinney (November 24, 1826 – January 25, 1904) was an American lawyer, politician, journalist and poet who wrote Rain On The Roof.


Introduction 

     ❑ Rain on the Roof by Coates Kinney is a beautifully written lyrical poem that presents the memories aroused in the poet’s mind by the showers falling on the tin roof. 

     ❑ Through a number of metaphors, the poet shows that the drops of rain falling on the shingles of the roof sends a train of thoughts running in his mind. 

     ❑ He is reminded of the way his mother used to bid him and his siblings a goodnight and put him to bed. 

     ❑ The poet connects his present with his past through the memories revived by the rain.

Poet: George Leslie Norris (1921-2006) was a prize winning Welsh poet and short story writer. He is considered as most important Welsh writers of the post war period and his literary works have won many prizes. His famous works are Finding Gold, The loud winder, phoenix living poets series: Ransoms, etc.


A Tiger in the Zoo 

He stalks in his vivid stripes
The few steps of his cage,
On pads of velvet quiet,
In his quiet rage.

About the poem:

The poem explains the agony and helplessness of a caged tiger that lives in a zoo. The poet explains what his life would have been if he had been a free animal. He has tried to explain about the condition of animals that are caged by human beings for their own fun.

PLANNING

Planning is a preparation for any action. It is the first requirement of good administration and efficient working of the program.


TOURNAMENT: 

A tournament is a competition held among various teams in a particular activity according to a fixed schedule where a winner is decided.


KNOCK-OUT TOURNAMENT: 

In this type of tournament, the team once defeated gets eliminated from the tournament. Only the winning teams contest in the next rounds. Opportunities are given to the winning players/teams.


LEAGUE TOURNAMENT:
